The DeepHaven Labyrinth was designed by Robert Ferré and installed by Jill Geoffrion and The Friends of the Deep Haven Labyrinth in 1999. It is a 51 foot diameter replica of the labyrinth pattern laid in the floor of Chartres Cathedral (outside Paris, France) in 1201 A.D. The pattern is a mathematical statement of the deep love of Christ. This labyrinth and surrounding gardens were dedicated to spiritual awakening and reawakening.

The DeepHaven Labyrinth and our other public labyrinths are no longer available. We hope that you were able to visit them while Deep Haven Labyrinths and Retreats was open.

The gardens surrounding the labyrinths were designed to communicate the joy and wonder of faith, incorporating scents, colors, textures and sounds. They were meant to support the deepening of the prayer experience of each person who came. The birdbaths, animal statuary and bird feeders were invitations to reflect on our connection with the wondrous diversity of God’s creation. Chairs and rocks were scattered around so that you those who were visiting could find a place to rest and savor the peace of this sacred environment.

There was information in the mailbox (by the bench on the side of the DeepHaven Labyrinth) so that those who came could learn more, including the location of the 9 other labyrinths that were located on the property.

We considered the lakeside of our property “family space.” Labyrinths there were shared by invitation only.
